We are please to announce that the off the shelf embedded link to Google Maps has be replaced by using Google Maps API (V3). This change may not be readily apparent at first glance, but this change gives us a much higher degree of design flexibility and control over how the maps are displayed on our site.

The current Map of Warwickshire Province on our site has been replaced with this map:
[map z=11 fusion=”3332639;’geometry'” kml=”https://www.google.com/fusiontables/exporttable?query=select+col2+from+3401940+where+col0+contains+’Provincial’&o=kmllink&g=col2″ style=”width:450px; height:400px; border:1px solid blue; margin-left:15px; margin-right:20px;”]

This map uses better administrative boundaries, courtesy of the Ordnance Survey, OpenData service. This data includes Crown Copyright data that has been made publicly available. Further more, we can now utilise Google Fusion Tables to selectively display data using specific queries of that data.

The above map queries the data and filters out every Masonic Hall in Warwickshire except for the Provincial Headquarters. The same map without the filter is below:
[map z=11 fusion=”3332639;’geometry'” kml=”https://www.google.com/fusiontables/exporttable?query=select+col2+from+3401940&o=kmllink&g=col2″ style=”width:450px; height:400px; border:1px solid blue; margin-left:15px; margin-right:20px;”]

For a larger version of the above Provincial map which has some more stylish markers and also highlights the Provincial Headquarters have a look at this map of where Freemason Lodges meet in Warwickshire.

Some more advanced maps for the Directions page will be added shortly.
