The Installation Meeting that was not to be

On the 17th March 2020, the Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of England, HRH The Duke of Kent suspended all activity within Freemasonry for a period of four months – with immediate effect – due to the outbreak of COVID -19 in England and Wales and to protect all brethren and their families, with many being in the “at-risk” categories.

This meant that the upcoming Installation of our Master Elect, Bro Philip Williams (pictured centre below) on Wednesday 8th April 2020 was not to be.

Acknowledging the severity of the situation, Freemasons under the banner of UGLE and around the world are gathering together at 9:00 pm “when the hands of the clock are on the square” each evening in order to raise a glass in order to remember those brethren that are Absent – and with social distancing that would be most of us!
The social media hashtag #TimetoToast was created and the airwaves show brethren from around the world coming together at 9:00 to remember each other and all those that are continuing to support the country through their selfless hard work as “essential and key workers”.

On the evening of 8th April, our Lodge Secretary W Bro Mike Willetts, requested brethren take a selfie or photo of themselves remembering each other when we should have been celebrating the Installation of a new Worshipful Master within the Lodge of Happiness no 7952.
