Last Thursday night 80 Brethren gathered at the Lodge of Happiness for the installation of their new Worshipful Master, W.Bro Michael Willetts, and to celebrate the start of their 50th Golden Jubilee Festival. Also present were Brethren from both our Mother Lodge, Faith and Hope 4772, and our Grand Mother Lodge, Lodge of Charity 1551. Worshipful Brother John B Hayward of the Lodge of Faith and Hope presented gifts from to further cement and recognise the strong bond between a Mother and Daughter Lodge.
Inscribed Gifts presented were an Entered Apprentice apron and a 1st Degree Ritual Book. Both will be presented to each new initiate of The Lodge of Happiness to demonstrate the past, the current and the future of our family bond. Also presented was a carved Maori treasure box or ‘Papa hou’. The latter to strengthen our association with our New Zealand roots. John’s father was present at the Consecration in 1964. The Worshipful Master of Faith and Hope, W.Bro. Phil Wills cut a celebratory cake with the newly installed Worshipful Master and one of the two surviving Founders, W.Bro. Trevor Gilbert, read out a poem that he had penned to commemorate the occasion. The Poem was penned about the Lodge’s history.
