Fruits of early website development

On Tuesday 23rd May, the Lodge of Happiness No. 7952 welcomed 20 men, of mature age, looking to start a Masonic journey into their Severn Street home for a “White Table” evening. All bar one of these gentlemen are the product of Lodge website enquiries over the last 12 months.

W. Bro. Geoffrey Weston, Worshipful Master, together with the assembled lodge brethren welcomed all of our visitors into the bar for an initial introduction. This was followed by informal and lively discussion and buffet Festive board in the Dining Room, and finished with a short presentation by the WM on Freemasonry in general and what the attendee’s interest of in our Lodge meant to us and how this interest would be progressed along in the future by the Lodge.

The attendees were from a wide range of backgrounds, faiths and age range and expressed that the recent Sky documentary “Inside the Freemasons” had only further promoted an interest in joining our Fraternity.

Bro. John Snape, himself a candidate from the Internet, can be seen making himself comfortable in the JW Chair whilst explaining his journey, so far.

The Lodge was amongst the first within the Province of Warwickshire to develop a website aimed at the promotion of membership in the Lodge, and Freemasonry in general, back in 2010 – already initiating five new members from that source. Current interest from potential candidates is growing and the Lodge keeps “fine tuning” the process of welcoming, vetting and progressing this interest – a major learning curve in the early days.
